Just after 10:30 am reports of a crane collapse rang from the
media in Boston. Sources from Channel 7 stated that an
accident occurred at 10 West Street, around the corner from
the Boston Common. Sackrabbit was on the scene for a
firsthand look at the spectacle outside the Brattle Book Shop.
Onlookers gathered to check out the toppled lift. The rig was a
Grove A125J, capable of lifting 600 lbs 125' the air. The boom
is powered by a 100 horsepower Cummins diesel. Safety
personnel, OSHA investigators and Boston fire and police
were on the scene. Reports of one worker killed and one
injured worker, no one in the outdoor bookstore was hurt. No
cause has been cited yet.
