Icons of the Basin
Hear the Fore River Bridge speak the tale of it's witness to history. Each ship at the General Dynamics shipyard graces the
underside of this bascule type drawbridge. More modern ships were assembled with the 1200 ton gantry hoist crane
nicknamed "Goliath". During the war, the giant craneways aided in the assembly of warships.

Goliath, the rusting icon of 20th century shipbuilding industry in the Fore River Basin stands dismantling. Once the giant of General Dynamics LNG projects. It's final destination will be an overseas shipyard.
