Ride the Crane
The 1,200 ton
These images were shot just prior to the
dismantling activities getting underway. Tour the
operators cab.  This is the console and seat that
once was command and control for the big lifts. See
the inside the winch house and the giant cable
spools that once lifted spheres for the LNG tankers
in the 1980's. The crane is now designated a
CAZ
or
Controlled Access Zone. Even those of us who
know people can't get in there anymore.
Special thanks to Audioshot for the use of the images of inside and
atop the crane. audioshot@gmail.com
The entire lift was controlled from this seat. 360° view and a plexiglass floor.
Imagine sitting here in a Nor-Easter!
Entry to the cab from the North.
Topside access to the cab.
This is an extremely hazardous job!
Dymo labels still used to clarify.
One if by Land...
One man had a lot of responsibility.
The master control in the cab.
