Goliath - The Icon of the Fore River Basin
The great lifts of the 1980's are long over. The crane seems too big to be dead, it's large frame appears to need a purpose
to exist. The battle of the elements and mans decision for the next step are in a stalemate. Given enough time, mother
nature would drop this beast on it's tracks.
This is now an unforgiving terrain. The developments of the future will once again allow people to inhabit the oceans
edge. Whether it is maritime use of maritime appreciation, this coveted land will someday bring great pleasure to
those who inhabit it.

The Dry Dock basin once beneath the crane ways.
From inside the Dry Dock, filling has begun.
The placard on the crane indicates a team from
Switzerland and Portugal won the bid.

Goliaths flywheel is silhouetted in the summer sky.
The braces seem
to still hold back
the ocean. It's a
matter of time
before man or
nature win this
battle. The 18
valves that once
opened
frequently are
likely rusted in
their final place.
