Memorials are plentiful in East Anglia - The Swan is a must see
The airfield at Lavenham is private property. The opportunity to visit here was a highlight. The site is plentiful and intact
enough to derive a feel for the past. The signatures on the wall of the Swan Hotel in the village are an absolute must see.
Some of the hardstands remain as well. There are many sights to see for the WWII historian including Duxford Imperial War
Museum and Cambridge Cemetery.
The meticulously restored control tower.
Some of the technical site.
A long view of one of the runways.
Nearby is an antiaircraft bunker.

A 487th BG tribute.
Spend some time reading the
names on the wall from WWII.
Original signatures are
preserved on the wall from
members of the 487th and RAF.
There is a lot of memorabilia on the walls
here at the Swan. The pint in the foreground
was tipped to the 487th!
Reality sets in. The buildings are
deteriorating and slowly coming
down. In the distance the control
tower stands on silent watch.
