This is one of the remaining
runways at Lavenham. The
B17's and B24's used this same
runway. Join the author for a
ride, an approach as would have
occurred over 60 years ago.

The runways were recycled
materials. The concrete rubble
from the heavy enemy bombings
of London were used. Also
particular to the runways is the
used off local agate, flint used in
the concrete.

VUME - Station 137 Lavenham, England
The control tower has been
restored with aid from the 487th
BG Association. The pile of
rubble in the foreground is
pieces of the runway. The
property owner saved them for
those who have made the trek.
The locals pronounce it "Lav-en-um". You can't tell the author is from New England!
